As a former Realtor and Member of the Northern Kentucky MLS, I understand the struggle of families to find the perfect home.
I also understand the fact that Boone County is currently lacking sufficient and affordable housing for members of our community.
Recently, an elected leader of Boone County made the comment that we don't want to ignore the fact that our "Workforce" is being "Priced-Out" of our Community.
That comment was, in my view, an acceptance of the fact that we've continually ignored the folks who keep our Community running smoothly.
That same leader spoke of how our Police, Fire, EMS and our Teachers are often priced-out of our Community due to low wages.
Sadly, you and I already know this.
At his first meeting of the Fiscal Court after the May Primary, Commissioner Chet Hand voted against a housing project on the newly refurbished Mineola Pike, which would have generated NEEDED one and two-bedroom apartments for our citizens.
Residents would've had direct access to East & West 275, without increasing the traffic burden on residents of our already overcrowded city centers like Florence, Union and Burlington.
The Vote to deny this project was either uneducated, ill-informed, or tactical.
Studies show we needed that project.
Citizens continue to advocate for these projects.

Luxury Home Availability
There is no shortage of Luxury Homes in Boone County.
We see these homes under construction daily, and though they provide great attraction for families in higher tax brackets, we must have balance in our market.
Affordable Housing
Boone County's Leadership Must ensure that our working families can afford the same comfort at home that those in our upscale communities feel.
Though pricing is market-driven, we cannot Price-Out our Workforce.
This action could have severe, negative impacts on ALL Business, not just Small Business.
