In recent years, we've watched as politicians verbally attack segemented groups of citizens based on Religion, Ethnicity, Orientation, Medical Issues, and several other identifying factors.
All of these attacks - negative to the productivity of our communities - have demonized law-abiding citizens for nothing more than political advantage.
These are the same folks who say they support the Constitution, while disregarding the most basic and clearly-stated regulations set forth in the founding document.
The Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, and the Right to live your life as you so choose are non-negotiable.
The Constitution enshrines these rights as legal barriers which prevent condemnation. Boone County citizens, regardless of faith, orientation, ethnicity or identifying status deserve leaders who will enforce and embody the Constitution.
All citizens deserve leaders displaying integrity. Boone Countians reject the idea that personal identifiers justify the classification of a human as "less-than."
JOBS & THE CHANGING ECONOMY
We all know how tough the current job market is.
We also know that increased reliance on AI and New Technology is impacting the number of available jobs in most communities.
As Judge/Executive, I will advocate for companies that put people over technology, and provide living wages for our citizens. We cannot allow our citizens to go homeless, or without food and healthcare, in order for companies to increase their profit. Our citizens matter, and my administration will lead the charge for increased wages and proper healthcare.
TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT
Boone County requires leaders to be fully transparent. Citizens want to know whether their leaders have investments in new developments. They want to know their leaders are making decisions, and casting votes based on the desires of citizens; not their own financial or political ambition.
New regulation should require upfront publication of any and all realized or unrealized benefits to leadership, regardless of votes cast.
RESPONSIBLE GROWTH PLANNING
Citizens of Boone County have dealt with the impacts of increased development, prior to the availability of sufficient critical infrastructure for over a decade. It is beyond time to appoint members to the Planning & Zoning Board who understand roadways and public services infrastructure should be in place prior to injecting new traffic into a region of the county.
County leadership should be vocal in their opposition to developments that could cause delays, or inconveniences to residents.
LOW TAX RATE vs. CAPPED GROWTH
While it is easy for politicians to preach the need for capped growth, and while it is easy to believe that action would fix struggles like traffic congestion and the removal of green space - the impact would be more of a disadvantage than some might believe.
The capping of growth means Boone County would be viewed as non-friendly to business owners. When we cap the ability to develop, that caps the motivation of owners to bring their business to Boone County.
When that occurs, Payroll Tax Revenue decreases, Tax Rates Increase, and the citizens of Boone County will foot the bill.
The only answer to keep tax rates low is to responsibly develop appropriate areas, while denying developments which would negatively impact citizens.
We can no longer accept poor leadership.
We can no longer accept leaders who abstain from a Vote.
We can no longer accept leaders who are so heavily invested financially that they can't effectively do their job.
